Plaza Chess

A puzzle chess game played at chess tables around the world — a garden pavilion, a hotel terrace, a stone table in the park and a Paris café terrace — where PLAYUS travel friends (Kang Jun, Yoon Harin, NURI…) set you chess problems and city champions take you on. Tap a piece and dots show where it can go; tap a dot or drag the piece there to move. First you learn how the rook, bishop, queen, king, knight and pawn move by collecting stars, then come Capture All (take every still black piece), Mate Puzzles (leave the king no escape in 1 or 2 moves) and Matches (play out a winning position against a rival). A wrong move bounces back and costs a heart (3 hearts). Each city has a champion boss match plus move-limit and speed stages, and you can watch an ad to take back a move. Enjoy it on a 2.5D board where captured pieces get knocked flying and the king topples at checkmate.

• Tap one of your pieces (cream) and dots show where it can go. Tap a dot or drag the piece there.
• Collect Stars: pick up every star with one piece. Red squares are guarded by black pieces — don’t stop there.
• Capture All: only capturing moves are allowed. Take every black piece to win; if you get stuck, it starts over.
• Mate Puzzle: within the given moves, leave the enemy king no escape (checkmate).
• Match: take turns with your rival and checkmate them within the move limit.
• A wrong move bounces back and costs a heart. Use up all 3 hearts and the round ends.
• A pawn that reaches the far row becomes a queen. There is no castling.
